I’ll Miss You Benny…
One of my favorite Nascar announcers and former race car driver, Benny Parsons, has passed away due to complications from his lung cancer. Benny, who was 65, always seemed a genuine guy; he had the knowledge from years of driving and the good old boy image, making him a great personality to talk about the race for three hours. A lot of former athletes turned commentators, Joe Theisman comes to mind, seem like cocky know it alls to me, while Benny seemed the type who could have a nice conversation with anyone. Benny won the Nascar championship in 1973.
