Robby Gordon Under Investigation

by webmaster on Mar.18, 2009, under Robby Gordon

Well, he was for a few days for bypassing part of the track during the running of the San Felipe 250 off-road race, but the complaint has been withdrawn and he has been declared the 2nd place finisher. It was first reported here, I believe, and they said he missed a pit stop setup by a pit crew known as the Baja Fools. It was reported in other posts from SportsByBrooks, awesome sports site with lots of good pictures for the fellas, and From the Marbles that said he missed a checkpoint, but he didn’t miss an official checkpoint, what he missed was a pit stop by a pit crew who sets up around the course and charges people to pit for them. They then “investigated” the alleged cheating in the video below, even saying that there were two sets of tire tracks, so he could’ve planned to do it all along.

I’m not a Robby Gordon fan, but it doesn’t sound like he really tried to cheat, sounds to me like he worked the system and did what he was supposed to, cross the finish line as fast as he can. He has already been declared the 2nd place finisher, so this is not really a big story, just thought it was interesting. And as has always been said about Nascar, if you aint cheating, you aint trying, I’m sure the competitors in the Score series usually try to stretch the rules themselves.
